Lead Software Engineer - Java

Hiring: Lead Software Engineer / Hands-on Tech Lead – Multifamily Data Platform Location: McLean, VA Work Model: Fully Onsite – 5 Days a Week Employment Type: Contract Engagement: W2, 1099, or Own Corp Work Authorization: US Citizens & Green Card Holders Only We are looking for a strong Lead Software Engineer / Hands-on Tech Lead to join a Multifamily Data Modernization initiative in McLean, VA. This is a highly hands-on role — approximately 80% development and 20–30% technical leadership — working closely with and providing technical direction to a team of 10+ engineers. What You'll Be Doing: • Design and develop scalable applications and data platforms • Build backend services using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs & Microservices • Work with MongoDB, relational databases, and SQL • Develop and deploy applications on AWS and Kubernetes • Provide technical guidance and establish engineering standards • Partner with Product Owners and business/technical stakeholders • Troubleshoot complex production and technical issues • Modernize legacy applications, systems, and data architectures • Leverage GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and Claude for development, refactoring, testing, and productivity Required Experience: ✔ Strong hands-on Java & Spring Boot experience ✔ Strong understanding of REST APIs & Microservices ✔ Production experience with MongoDB and relational databases/SQL ✔ Hands-on AWS & Kubernetes experience ✔ Experience leading or mentoring a team of 10+ engineers ✔ Strong technical leadership, prioritization, and delivery experience ✔ Demonstrated daily use of Generative AI tools in software development/testing ✔ Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills Nice to Have • Mortgage / Loan Servicing / Loan Origination experience • FinTech experience • Real Estate or Multifamily data platform experience • Legacy application and data modernization experience Interview Process Round 1: 30-minute virtual interview Round 2: 60-minute in-person interview in McLean, VA ⚠️ IMPORTANT WORK AUTHORIZATION REQUIREMENT We are ONLY considering US Citizens and Green Card Holders for this opportunity. ❌ H1B – Not considered ❌ OPT – Not considered ❌ CPT – Not considered ❌ H4 EAD – Not considered Candidates must be able to work fully onsite in McLean, VA. 📩 Interested candidates, please share your updated resume at: swapnil@strongpoint.digital
